We are passionate, we are bold, and we are Minnesota Nice. We appreciate, embrace and love all that this area has to offer. Many of us grew up here, locally grown and raised in this beautiful place. Some of us have stayed, others have come and gone, but we always come back.
Cabin dwellers retreat for the winter, while we gear up for the freeze - an ice fisherman’s dream. We anxiously wait 9 months to enjoy every drop of our short, sweet summer. We love the changing colors and first breath of crisp, autumn air, the comforting warmth of a bonfire, and the sound of a first cast.
We embrace all of it. We love this land and want to share this feeling of everyday bliss with all of you. We all should feel like we’re on vacation every day.

Colton Maher, Broker/Founder and Lakes Area Enthusiast
Colton Maher, a native of the Brainerd Lakes Area, brought Woods to Water to life in 2018. With 10 years of experience in the downtown Minneapolis condo and real estate market, Colton gained a true appreciation for luxury homes, innovative and efficiently built spaces, and most importantly, selling a LIFESTYLE. The up north scene offers scenic woods, lake life, and a reason to slow down on the daily, and unmatched natural beauty in its surroundings - equal to how the downtown scene offers walkability, convenience, and pristine recreational and social opportunities.
To each their own, Colton was inspired by the connection between a buyer/seller and the EXPERIENCE they had or could have in their home and neighborhood. He has a natural passion for helping others and helping navigate challenges on a very down-to-earth level. Growing in up in the Brainerd Lakes made him appreciate the natural beauty and lifestyle the area had to offer and convinced him to return to his roots after 8 years in the city and 12 years away from “home”. His intention was to share the lakes area lifestyle with locals and tourists alike. This all helped shape the groundwork for Woods to Water - serving the Brainerd Lakes Area with expansive options in real estate, land management, property management, and vacation homes.
As the company evolves, they continue to push the status quo of the local real estate market and provide an unprecedented level of service to each of its clients; all while embracing the beautiful lifestyle that this area offers both tourists and locals alike.
