Late season hunting plus ice, ice baby!

What a wonderful fall it has been in the BLA. Winter is now upon us! Fresh ice is being made daily.

Haven’t filled your deer tag yet? No worries! Muzzleloader season goes until December 10th and archery until the 31st! Plenty of grouse hunting season left as well! Late season is some of the best hunting in my opinion. Those food plots and grain fields are the ticket. Some Does are even going into heat during this time as well. Cooler temps have the deer preparing for winter and bucks recovering after the rut. Get the buddy heater fired up and get out there!

Ice fishing season is here! Many lakes in the area have between 3-5 inches. Ice fishing has started. Early ice= extra caution. Be sure to check…

We hate to say it...

Winter is coming. If there was any doubt, this week’s sub-sixty-degree weather and driving cold rain confirmed that Fall is in full swing! For those of us in summer dominant rental markets, fall offers a chance to slow down, catch your breath, gain some perspective on what went well and what needs to be improved in our short-term business, and reflect on how can we grow revenue for our owners and enhance the guest experience. Here’s what our team at Woods to Water Vacation Homes, in partnership with our homeowners, is doing to get ready for the Fall and Winter season:

Hello Fall!

THE TIME OF YEAR THAT ALL OUTDOOR ENTHUSIASTS WAIT FOR IS FINALLY HERE.

... And it's in full force! Deer, bear, waterfowl, grouse, and pheasant are open for the fall. One of my favorite parts of living in the B.L.A is the access to the thousands of acres of public hunting land in the area.

I kicked off the season by punching a bonus tag on a doe right off the bat, as well as my first antelope. I recently traveled to South Dakota to chase Antelope and was not disappointed. After 2 blown stalks in the morning, this one came together! I belly crawled on the side of the hill to get more cover and close the distance. Soon I was surrounded by a whole herd of does and not far behind was this stud! A perfectly placed arrow at 65 yards made…

Quite possibly the most unique vacation rental in all the Midwest, The GetAway sits just west of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, on 520 acres of awe-inducing wooded privacy. Equipped with an in-ground pool and hot tub, a private golf course, an archery simulator, a military-grade high-ropes course, miles of trails, and two Sherp amphibious ATVs for guests to explore the property.  For years, this property sat with little use and left those driving by questioning what it was or who owned it. With new owners at the helm and with the help of Woods to Water…

By Chuck Hasse, Leech Lake Fishing Guide with Leisure Outdoor Adventures

Fall is finally here.

Unfortunately, nobody told Mother Nature, Water temps in the mid-60s have kept fish in their summer patterns as of late except earlier in the week. Recent daytime highs in the high 70s or even 80s have warmed water temps back up as of right now.  Given the forecast, water temps should slowly start to decrease again throughout the next 10 days and hopefully activate the attitudes of fish on Leech Lake.

As of now, the best tactics for catching almost all fish are the same as you would have used a month ago.  For Walleyes, reaction baits such as a #7 Rapala Shad rap or a Berkley Flicker Shad trolled over flats in 8-10 ft of water is a good go-to right…

What is Lakes Area Heroes?

Hey everyone, this is Isaiah Moengen, and I'm proud to introduce you to Lakes Area Heroes, a non-profit organization that I founded. I also happen to be an agent with Woods to Water Real Estate, but today, I want to share a little-known part of my life that has been incredibly meaningful to me. Lakes Area Heroes is more than just an organization; it's a passion project that emerged from my deep connection to the community and my upbringing as the child of a firefighter, paramedic, and first responder. I have a profound love for my family and my community, and through Lakes Area Heroes, I've found a way to bring these two passions together to support our local heroes.

Before I delve into what we do at Lakes Area…
