How to Spend a Day in Crosslake, MN

Welcome to Crosslake, MN. The focal point of the famous Whitefish Chain of Lakes and a pristine center for tourism with excellent golf, shopping, and dining offerings.

One of the largest tourist destinations in MN, the Whitefish Chain is composed of 14 interconnecting lakes and draws people from near and far to explore the vast 14,000 acres of waterfront and enjoy the lifestyle the Brainerd Lakes Area has to offer. Also home to our very own agent, Isaiah Moengen. Isaiah was born and raised in Crosslake, Minnesota and his family grew up active in the Crosslake community. He's here to give you all of the best to-do's while you're in town!

Where to eat

To get your day started, head up to Pine Peaks Restaurant for a hearty breakfast. Pick up some souvenirs while you're there in their gift shop. And if you're a coffee person like I am, swing into Crafts and Cones for a caffeine boost afterward. My go-to order in the summer is an iced americano.

After a couple of hours of relaxing in the sun, there's nothing better than calling Zorbaz to pick up chips, salsa, and a pizza for lunch (try the Thai Pie, that's our pizza of choice). I also recommend Moonlight Bay or The Wharf, all easily accessible from the boat!

Manhattan Beach Lodge is my choice for dinner, located on Trout Lake (a part of the Whitefish Chain). Grab a table on the patio and enjoy one of their dinner entree items and a cocktail. A Mohito from the Patio bar is one of my favorites!

14 Lakes Brewery is also a fan favorite. Although not accessible from the boat, it's definitely worth a stop to enjoy a locally-made brew!

Get on the Lake

There's no place like the Whitefish Chain in the summer. Remember to pack the boat (I recommend snacks, drinks, bug spray + plenty of sunscreen).

LOCAL PRO-TIP  The SW Public Water Access boat landing is usually less busy. Directions to access: 1.5 mi S of Crosslake on Co Rd 3, then 2.5 mi W on Co Rd 103, then 1 mi N on West Shore Drive. From the landing, cruise under the bridge, hang a left you’ll find yourself at the best sandbar in the Midwest.

When you're ready to throw the tube or wakeboard in for some watersports, I recommend a quick boat drive up to Upper Whitefish Lake for a little more space.

Golf

If you're an avid golfer be sure to grab a tee time at Crosswoods Golf Course in the heart of Crosslake for one of the best-maintained courses in the lakes area.

This is how we "Up North." You will be hard-pressed to find a better way to spend a summer day in the Lakes Area! Thanks for reading and I'll see you out there!
