Crosslake Area Information
Crosslake is located in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, and is considered to be the unofficial gateway to the Whitefish Chain of Lakes. The Whitefish Chain is made up of 14 bodies of water, many of which fall within Crosslake or Pequot Lakes city limits; which leads it to be the most popular waterfront destination in Crosslake. However, there are many significant lakes that lie within its area, including Little Pine Lake, Daggett Lake, Goodrich Lake, O'Brien Lake, Velvet Lake, Greer Lake, Big Bird Lake, Pine Lake, and, of course, Cross Lake.
Crosslake can be accessed 30 minutes north of Brainerd, and 2 and a half hours north of Minneapolis. Crosslake itself lies between two north-south transit routes: State Highway 6, and State Highway 371. 30 minutes north of Crosslake, one can enter the Chippewa National Forest, and the vast system of parks beyond which extends all the way to Canada.
Students of Crosslake, MN are typically enrolled in Pequot Lakes or Crosby school districts, but also have the opportunity to attend Crosslake Community Charter School.
ATTRACTIONS
Crosslake is an area surrounded by vast, untouched natural beauty. However, it's not without its fair share of services, amenities and attractions. Most of these are situated along County Road 3, functioning as Crosslake's central corridor. Museums, community facilities, shops, and eateries can all be found on, or just off this main road.
Perhaps Crosslake's biggest attraction is the host of outdoor recreational activities that it offers residents and visitors in alike. The lakes provide ample opportunities for boating, fishing, and other water activities, while in the winter they can be used for skating and skiing.
Trails around Crosslake are excellent for hiking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. And the properties themselves are well suited to entertainment - whether you're planning an outdoor barbecue or an indoor gathering.
And don't miss out on one of the many community events that happen throughout the year, including Winterfest, the St. Patrick's Day (voted best in MN!) Parade, various music events, and Celebrate Crosslake Days.
Coming soon to Crosslake is the National Loon Center, an interactive educational and recreational center and national destination for nature lovers and conservationists. The center is slated for opening in 2024.
