Area Information

Longville is a small resort town in Cass County, MN and is home to less than 200 people, but hosts thousands of tourists in the summer months. It is apart of the ISD #118 school district where its students are serviced by Northland Community Schools in nearby Remer, MN.  Although small, Longville offers residents all of the necessities including Tabaka’s Family Foods, the One Stop gas station and convenience store, the Longville clinic, a variety of shops located downtown and several bar/restaurant options in the area. For additional needs or amenities, the larger cities of Brainerd/Baxter are a short 1 hour drive away. 

It also connects with the Paul Bunyan State Trail, one of Minnesota's longest paved trails. This trail is popular for biking, walking, and inline skating, offering scenic views and connections to other towns and attractions.

Community Attractions in Longville, Minnesota

Coined the “Turtle Race Capital of the World” Longville is known for its long-standing tradition of hosting Turtle Races on main street every Wednesday from June-August. This weekly summer event draws locals and tourists alike and includes games, dance contests, hula-hoop contests, food vendors, and fun for kids and adults.

Neighboring Walker to the north, Hackensack to the west and Remer to the east; the city of Longville is surrounded by approximately 60 lakes. This area provides some of the best recreational opportunities in the State.

Deep Portage Learning Center is a nonprofit residential environmental education center located on more than 6,000 acres of lakes, bogs, rivers, and woodlands. They offer eleven miles of trails open year-round for birding, hiking, and skiing.

Woodpile Mini Golf offers 19 holes of mini golf right in the heart of Longville! 

Longville is a bike-friendly community with its own designated bike routes along County Road 11, from Hwy 84 to 5, and County Road 5 from downtown Longville to Hackensack. Both of these routes feature extra-wide paved shoulders with no rumble strips, specially designed to accommodate bicycle riders and connect with the popular Paul Bunyan State Trail.

Woman Lake Chain of Lakes - The Woman Lake chain is comprised of four lakes; Woman, Girl, Little Woman and Child Lake, which (although not all accessible by boat) connect to multiple other lakes including Baby, Man, Kid, and Pick Lake.

Patrick's Fine Dining - Serving the Longville community many years, pull up on the boat after a day on Girl Lake for a variety of offerings from burgers to prime rib. 

Longville Turtle Town Cafe - Good old fashioned home cooking located downtown Longville. Offering daily lunch specials! 

Docksider Bar - Well known for their pizza and small town charm, stop by and grab a spot on the patio overlooking Girl Lake and downtown Longville. 

Anchorage Inn - Just a short drive outside of town, the Anchorage Inn offers full breakfast and lunch menu alongside a limited dinner menu with beautiful views of Lake Inguadona. 

Frosty's Ice Cream and Pizza Parlor - Located on main street in downtown Longville and a must-go when you're in town. Order a pizza to take back on the boat on your way home or choose from 30 flavors of hard scoop ice cream. A Longville tradition! 

Parks, Trails and Public Lake Access

Stuart Memorial Park - Pickle ball, shuffle board, sand volleyball, a playground and picnic pavilions available! 

Woodtick Trail - North and East of Hackensack is the Woodtick Trail, winding from Hwy 371 to the city of Longville. Several primative campsites are also available on the many smaller lakes in this area

Goose Lake Trail - Head just 5 miles outside of Longville to Goose Lake Trail for approximately 9 miles of trails through gently rolling hills around wetlands.  

Washburn Lake Solitude Area - Located 2 miles north of Outing (about 17 miles outside of Longville) offers 20+ miles of trails in the Land O'Lakes State Forest. 

North Country Trail - This trail passes through the Chippewa National Forest and runs parallel to Highway 200 just outside of Longville. No fee required to enter Chippewa National Forest! 

Girl Lake Public Boat Access - Free to the public. Located right outside of downtown Longville.
