Leech Lake - A Fishing Paradise Walker's claim to fame is Leech Lake, one of the largest and most popular fishing destinations in Minnesota. Anglers flock to the area year-round to catch walleye, northern pike, muskie, and more. Rent a boat or hire a local guide to explore the 112,000-acre lake and create unforgettable fishing memories. Downtown Walker - Walker's downtown area is a hub of quaint shops and boutiques, including Reeds Outdoor Outfitters, a popular store amongst the outdoorsmen. Check out the Leech Lake Chamber of Commerce website for a full directory.
Tianna Country Club - If you're a golf enthusiast, don't miss the chance to play a round at Tianna Country Club. This 18-hole championship course is nestled in the Northwoods, offering stunning views and a challenging game for golfers of all skill levels.

The Boulders - Offers a higher-end cozy dining atmosphere with a diverse menu that includes steaks, seafood, and delicious pasta dishes. Reservations recommended!
The Piggy BBQ - If you're a barbecue enthusiast, you can't miss The Piggy. Serving smoked meats, ribs, and classic Southern sides each day until gone!
502 Restaurant - Located inside Chase on the Lake. Serving burgers, sandwiches, and comfort food with a fantastic view of Leech Lake from both the inside + out.
Java Loon - Our go-to for a quick caffeine fix. Serving Caribou Coffee alongside locally themed gifts for sale, just a block from the city docks!
The Village Square - Located conveniently right in the middle of town, The Village Square offers a relaxed pub atmosphere with a menu featuring burgers, sandwiches, and a good selection of beer and wine. Head next door after to their attached parlor for a coffee or ice cream cone.
Portage Brewing Company - Walker's very own brewery. And we can confirm... the vibes are good. A must-stop!
Benson's Eating & Drinking Emporium - Benson's is a cozy establishment offering a classic American menu and full bar. Popular for their pizza and large menu.
Recreational Trails + Outdoor Activities
Heartland State Trail - The Heartland State Trail is a scenic trail that connects Walker with Park Rapids and Cass Lake. It winds through forests, along lakeshores, and across beautiful landscapes. It's popular for biking, hiking, and snowmobiling, offering year-round outdoor enjoyment.
Shingobee Trail - Located within the Chippewa National Forest, the Shingobee Trails offer a network of hiking paths that meander through a lush forested area. The trails vary in difficulty and provide opportunities for birdwatching and wildlife viewing.
North Country National Scenic Trail - The North Country National Scenic Trail is one of the longest hiking trails in the United States, stretching for over 4,600 miles. While you can't hike the entire trail in one go, you can explore segments of it near Walker, passing through beautiful forests and along lakeshores.
Chippewa National Forest Trails - The Chippewa National Forest encompasses a vast area around Walker and offers a variety of trails, including the Cut Foot Sioux National Recreation Trail and the Rabideau CCC Camp Trail. Shingobee Recreational Area - Shingobee offers 6 miles of trails for hiking, walking, hunting, and birdwatching in the heart of Minnesota's Northwoods. A sliding hill and a weekend warming chalet are also available in the winter!
